QFAS Spring Conference 2012
The QFAS Spring Conference will be held on Saturday, April 28th, 2012, as usual at Friends’ House, 10.30-4.00. Rhonda Riachi will be the speaker and her two talks are “Mapping the Afterlife” and “Navigating the Unknown Region”.
Rhonda is a Quaker and chairs the Oxford and Cotswold Group of the Alister Hardy Society for Religious and Spiritual Experience (http://www.alisterhardysociety.org). Her interest in the Afterlife began in 2001 with the showing of the BBC Horizon programme on Near-Death Experiences, “The Day I Died” (which featured NDE research by Peter Fenwick, Sam Parnia, Bruce Greyson and Pim van Lommel). She works in adult education in Oxford.
Rhonda will explore different perspectives on the Afterlife, reflecting her own journey through some fascinating material over the past decade. Using diagrams and texts from Theosophy, Sufism, Buddhism, mystical writings, channelled communications, out-of-the-body and near-death experiences, and other sources … common themes can be discerned and models built up.
Cost: £12.00 waged, £10.00 unwaged

The one-day Spring Conference took place on 10 May 2008, at Friends House. In a talk entitled 'A Matter of Communication : the 1939 Report on Spiritualism to the Archbishop of Canterbury', QFAS member Roger Straughan explored the history and contents of the Committee's ill-fated report, which was not published until forty years had elapsed - a story of alleged cover-ups, leaks and shady doings in high places. He also raised wider questions for discussion about the religious and spiritual significance of spiritualism and post-mortem communication.
Ros Smith’s talk “Life Between Lives”, looked at some of the research that has been done on the increasingly accepted concept that we find ourselves in another dimension between incarnations on earth, in which we seem to have the opportunity to make conscious choices and decisions for our future progress. |
